Have You Battled with Having Second Thoughts?

Have you ever questioned whether or not you made a right decision? 🤔

Well, I’ve done it more times than I can count just being honest! Sometimes when we make informed decisions it can feel as if we’ve missed a step right after making it. That’s when my brain starts to kick in overdrive from 0 to 100. 😅

I’m learning that sometimes I’m not going to always quite understand the Father’s will, but I must trust and follow. It’s just like when you’re traveling to a place you’ve never been before. You don’t know exactly what to expect, but you go with the flow all the while listening to the GPS instructions. Sometimes you might run into an unexpected rainstorm thinking you’ve made the wrong decision & chose the wrong day to go on that vacation. Aah, but then the clouds pass and the sun ☀️ peaks through the dreamy sky!!!

You feel a little silly because you had second thoughts. Well, yesterday on January 21, 2023, I had one of those moments. I had created a reel about how our culture of African Americans typically wash dishes! This reel was inspired by things I’d here my mom say sometimes. In our home, we were the dishwashers not the appliance itself. To my surprise, the reel received a magnitude of views via Instagram & YouTube shorts!

Here’s where I battled with second thoughts however 🤷🏽‍♀️

A comment was made about the reel where I posted via YouTube shorts. This individual asked who lied and said all black people wash dishes by hand and that many use the dishwasher. I replied by thanking him for the view and told him it’s just a skit and to wash dishes the way he chooses. I ended with “God bless you!”

I became immersed with different thoughts 💭 and I questioned whether or not I should have done it in the first place. Maybe I should remove it? Then, I went back to view the comment and this person’s YouTube name STUCK OUT at me! His name was ‘HatersGoneHate!” I can’t make this up! 😆☺️🤷🏽‍♀️ He commented again that he’s not going to argue with me and told me I better chill. IT HIT ME!

I knew right then & there that something was off about this person being that he was the ONLY individual to leave a negative reply and I told him with authority to watch how he addressed me in Jesus name! I told him his name suited him well and that I have two teens who dare not address me like that & neither would he. You know what’s next right? Yup block & delete. I prayed about the situation and asked God to give me peace about it! Let’s just say that I tossed through the night still having second thoughts. 😏

Today, January 22, 2023 God spoke boldly to me! After taking care of things I decided to get on Instagram. What a pleasant surprise!?! I had received even more views & a few funny comments. One of the individuals connected with me a few weeks ago and she commented: “You’re so fun!” She had even went so far as to leave me a sweet DM about my family that blessed me tremendously!!!!! It was like night & day how God showed me that what I created was OKAY ✅✅

We texted back & forth for a bit via DM and I was so blessed and cried! Then, I said within myself “girl you need to stop tripping” because I had second thoughts for nothing.

One of my takeaways from the conversation was when the lady thanked me for not deleting the post and said: “Because it is fun!! It was beautiful!! You glow with the joy of the Lord.” She outpoured so many encouraging scriptures and words of kindness towards me. I WAS ELATED 🙌🏽

So, the next time you step out to make an informed decision, create a simple reel, or even share the goodness of the Lord through a podcast do me a favor and don’t give it a second thought!
